How to make Dimsum
Goal
The goal is to make delicious and tender homemade dimsum that can be enjoyed as a snack or main dish.
Tools and Materials
Tools:
- Steamer
- Mixing bowls
- Measuring spoons
- Chopping board
- Knife
- Spoon
Materials (Ingredients):
- 300 grams minced chicken or shrimp
- 100 grams finely chopped carrots
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- Wonton wrappers
- Water for steaming
Steps
- In a large bowl, mix the minced chicken or shrimp with chopped carrots and minced garlic.
- Add oyster sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, salt, and pepper to the mixture. Stir well until all ingredients are combined evenly.
- Take one wonton wrapper, place a spoonful of the filling in the center.
- Gather the edges of the wrapper and shape it into a small pouch, leaving the top open.
- Prepare the steamer by boiling water.
- Place the dimsum in the steamer, making sure they don't touch each other.
- Steam the dimsum over medium heat for about 15–20 minutes or until fully cooked.
- Serve the dimsum hot with soy sauce, chili sauce, or your favorite dipping sauce
